Your WordPress Website or blog was designed and setup for you, but now you want to start adding some of your own content.
Follow this easy step by step instruction on How to Add a WordPress Post.
Step 1: Fill in your username and password and left click on Log In
Step 2: Left click in your Dashboard menu on the left hand side on Post and then Add New.
Step 3: Below Add New Post fill in your Post Title.
Here it is important to keep your SEO strategy in mind – so choose a descriptive title that will draw readers and has bearing on your content.
Step 4: Directly below your title is a block where you can insert your post content. The editor is really easy to use. Much like word you can insert your text and use the pre-set formats to create your desired look and feel. It is always a good idea to use the formats provided for you as this will create consistency throughout your whole website.
Once again keep your SEO strategy in mind when creating your content.
Step 5: On the left hand side you will find a block where you can choose the category where you want the post to appear. Choose the correct category by ticking the box next to your desired category.
The category is usually linked to a page depending on how you set it up in the beginning. You can always add or remove categories at a later stage. This is also helpful if you want to group certain types of content together.
Step 6: Directly below your category box is a place where you can fill in tags.
Tags should describe what your post is about so that it can be identified – it provides a useful way to group related posts together and tells your readers what your post is about. You can add multiple tags by filling in the text and clicking the add button.
Step 7: Your last step is to click on Publish which you will find in the right sidebar. Your post is now live and you can view it in your browser.
Remember to Publish otherwise all your carefully created content will be lost.
